Covent Garden in the Snow by Jules Wake

Covent Garden in the Snow by Jules Wake

First, I would like to thank both Netgalley and Harper Impulse for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I was delighted to read the latest from Jules Wake as I really enjoyed ‘From Paris with Love’ and even better Covent Garden in the Snow is based around Christmas and is now my new favourite!

Here we meet Tilly Hunter who works at the London Metropolitan Opera Company in the make-up department. Tilly loves working here and is really passionate about her work. The only thing she hates is using the computer which she tends to avoid and a prime example is when she sends a personal email which ends up being sent to the entire company and to make matters worse she opens an attachment and downloads a virus. Conveniently the LMOC have just hired Marcus, the new IT Director and poor Tilly is forced against her will to take lessons to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again.

So once the lessons begin both Tilly and Marcus do not get along partly because she refuses to acknowledge how useful the computer could be for her work but the more she gets to know Marcus, her opinion changes. Whilst this is going on Tilly discovers some truths about her fiancé Felix and also Tilly addresses the difficult relationship between herself and her sister and parents.  In the background we get an insight into behind the scenes of the Opera and how much work goes in to the show which was really interesting.

I really enjoyed Covent Garden in the Snow; Jules Wake has created a fantastic bunch of characters. You could not help but fall in love with Tilly from the first page. The banter between Tilly and Marcus was brilliant. There are some lovely moments in the book between Tilly and her sister and also with her mother.

This is definitely a must read this festive season!

Enjoy,

Ailish
